ETS NORD’s Sustainability Journey

09.09.2025

For 27 years, ETS NORD has been contributing to better indoor climate in buildings and reducing energy consumption. Our solutions help save energy every day, lower the environmental impact, and create safer living environments. We believe that responsible operations and high-quality indoor air go hand in hand, which is why we have prepared a comprehensive document highlighting ETS NORD Group’s sustainable activities in 2024.

The year 2024 brought several challenges, as the economic environment was difficult both in Estonia and Scandinavia. Nevertheless, we succeeded in taking several significant steps forward. We completed a new energy-efficient factory building, reduced our CO₂ footprint by 10%, and increased the share of EPD-certified products to 75%.

Solar Energy and Energy Efficiency

One of the largest projects in 2024 was the completion of our new factory building in Tallinn, equipped with a rooftop solar park. This enabled us to reduce the footprint from electricity consumption by 19%. From July to December, we produced 351 MWh of solar energy – the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 100 Estonian households. Our future plans include building another solar park at our Tallinn production facilities and adding energy storage capacity, which will further reduce purchased energy needs and our CO₂ footprint.

EPD – Transparent Information on Our Products’ Environmental Impact

Currently, 75% of ETS NORD’s products are covered by EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificates, which indicate a product’s environmental impact. For example, our NTO spiral duct has an EPD value of 2.806 kg CO₂e/kg – lower than the market average. This provides a competitive advantage for both us and our customers. Our goal for next year is to increase the share of certified products to 90%.

Our People – Our Greatest Value

The foundation of ETS NORD’s success is our people. In 2024, the group employed 483 people: 348 in Estonia, 112 in Finland, and 38 in Sweden. The average age of our employees is 40, ensuring a good balance between young talents and experienced professionals. 26% of our employees are women and 74% men.

Health and Well-being

We care about our people’s well-being. In 2024, we supported health- and sports-related expenses with nearly €60,000. We participated together in several running events such as Maijooks, Tipust Topini, and the Tallinn Marathon. Our in-house Step Count Challenge also saw teams from Finland and Sweden joining in, bringing our international family together.

Beyond daily work, we also value shared time – celebrating work anniversaries, welcoming new family members, and organizing summer and Christmas events for our employees. These moments strengthen team spirit and foster a cohesive working environment. We believe that together we can create a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Developing Our Employees’ Skills

In 2024, we invested over €61,000 in training. We offer opportunities for both professional skills development and language learning – with many employees studying English, Finnish, Swedish, or Estonian. Communication skills are crucial in our international team, and we continue to invest in this area consistently.
