ETS NORD’s NTP silencers are now better than ever

The importance of effective sound attenuation is becoming more significant as overall construction costs rise and acoustic requirements for indoor spaces continue to tighten

The better the attenuation performance of a silencer, the easier it is to control noise generated by air handling units. Higher-quality sound attenuation also provides greater flexibility in design and installation, as improved performance enables the use of a shorter product. A shorter unit is easier to install while still meeting design criteria.

When developing silencer performance, it is essential to thoroughly study and test the entire ventilation system. Precise measurements of aerodynamic properties—such as pressures affecting the ventilation system and noise generated by airflow—help designers and product developers create indoor climates that perform optimally and are as comfortable as possible for end users.

In autumn 2025, ETS NORD opened the most advanced ventilation research center in the Nordic countries to strengthen its technical expertise and further accelerate development work. The first research and development project conducted in our laboratory focused on improving the quality of NTP silencers. The project tested several material alternatives and included a technology upgrade based on changes to the attenuation material.

The work is now complete, and the results speak for themselves.

According to repeat measurements, the performance of ETS NORD’s NTP silencers has been significantly improved. The updated product is considerably quieter than its predecessor, achieving clearly better results and even exceeding the values stated in the technical documentation.

The technically enhanced NTP silencers are available under the same product name as before and are modeled as products in the MagiCAD product library.
