Behind the certificates is a company that cares for itself, its customers and the society around it

The importance of environmental friendliness and energy efficiency is growing everywhere, especially in the construction industry. New directives and shifting values are bringing ever-stricter ecological regulations. Whether it’s a new build or a renovation project, quality and sustainability are assessed throughout the entire supply chain.

And rightfully so. Companies that can deliver higher-quality products with a lower environmental impact earn a well-deserved competitive edge and help build a better future for us all.

A wide range of standards and certifications are used to evaluate product quality and environmental impact. These independently developed benchmarks help ensure that products meet the requirements of specific environments. The more demanding the conditions, the more performance, energy efficiency, hygiene, and other specialized features are expected from the product.

HACCP – from astronaut food norms to a global hygiene standard

ETS NORD’s professional kitchen canopies are certified for food safety with the HACCP International certificate. This highly respected hygiene certification in the food industry means that using the canopy poses no risk to food safety. This is especially important in hospital kitchens and other spaces where hygiene demands are even higher than in standard restaurant settings. A canopy with the HACCP certificate can be installed in such facilities without the need for separate inspections or permit processes.

Interestingly, the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system was initially developed by NASA to ensure astronauts had access to crumb-free, shelf-stable, pathogen-free meals in space. It was the first time food safety was approached purely from the perspective of pathogen monitoring and control. Today, HACCP is the global standard for food safety—and ETS NORD is committed to ensuring that our canopies and ventilation ceilings meet its strict criteria and deliver hygienic, reliable ventilation solutions for all types of professional kitchens.

In addition, the HFK grease filter used in ETS NORD canopies is certified according to UL 1046 requirements, demonstrating its structural safety and suitability for demanding environments.

EPD – a product’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized document verified by a third party. In construction, EPDs help assess a building’s total environmental impact and identify the most significant ecological contributors. Designers can calculate the project’s carbon footprint and choose the most environmentally friendly options.

ETS NORD has reached a major milestone in this field— 75% of our product volume is already covered by EPDs. Our canopies are made from recycled stainless steel, significantly reducing their carbon footprint.

Our canopies—and many of our other solutions—have achieved a range of quality and environmental certifications, and we’re proud of that. They reflect our ongoing commitment to developing ever better and more sustainable indoor climate solutions.

Most importantly, these certificates are not just badges we include in company brochures. ETS NORD’s mission is to improve indoor air quality—to help ensure that everyone has the same opportunity for a good quality of life.

As ventilation professionals, we develop our solutions from the customer’s perspective and based on their real needs. In the end, that’s the most meaningful and rewarding starting point for everything we do.
