Recair aSAP solution for air handling units brings energy and cost efficiency to renovation projects

28.08.2023

There are many buildings in Finland where the ventilation systems alone have a very high energy-saving potential, which is why property owners should survey the energy-saving potential of their building stock when it comes to air handling units.

The current energy efficiency requirements for air handling units only came into force in 2018. You only have to go back 15 years to see that the building code requirements for the energy efficiency of air handling units were very modest compared to today.

The renovation of air handling units in existing buildings is usually timed to coincide with a major renovation, with potential savings being lost every year in the meantime. In many cases, this is because the renovation of air handling unit equipment requires major construction work to bring the new equipment into the existing engine rooms. ETS NORD’s aSAP solution for Recair air handling units easily overcomes this challenge. The air handling unit is delivered as dismantled prefabricated parts according to the site’s requirements. This avoids major construction work and allows for the renovation of air handling units even in challenging projects, for example on sites protected by heritage legislation.

The design of the aSAP solution is based on dividing each functional part of the air handling unit into its own machine section, allowing the machine to be prefabricated in the factory as far as possible. Sections that do not fit through the existing opening are designed as aSAP renovation sections on a project-by-project basis. This allows large fan and silencer casings, as well as large rotor and plate heat exchanger casings, to be hauled into the engine room.

On-site, the machine is assembled either by authorized ventilation technicians or by ETS NORD Recair technicians. With just a screwdriver, the assembly process is quick and easy.
